TREATMENT PROBLEMS: HD PATIENTS

Between dialysis treatments, the levels of certain body chemicals rise. Subsequently, the levels of these chemicals drop quickly during dialysis. This shift tends to affects patients differently. Resulting from this process, some individuals may experience dizziness, nausea, vomiting, headaches or muscle cramps.
Nurses will monitor you during a treatment and can make adjustments to minimize these symptoms and make your treatment comfortable. If you start to feel strange or sick, alert them and explain how you feel. Don't worry about "bothering' staff. If you don't say anything, they may not be able to assist you.
